Preheat the oven to 350 F.
In a stand mixer bowl or a large bowl, cream the butter.
Add the brown sugar and the white sugar and mix until smooth and fluffy.
Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat until combined.
In a separate bowl, sift together both flours, the baking soda, and the salt. Add to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
Add the walnuts and chocolate chips and fold into the dough.
On a parchment-lined baking sheet place about two tablespoons of dough. You can also use a cookie scoop or an ice cream scoop. Keep about two inches between each cookie to allow the cookies to spread.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers will still be a little soft. Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 2 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
